Inform your insurance company immediately if you have recently been the victim of loss or theft. Fill out a claim form within your insurance company's timeframe. It is a good idea to also take photographs or videos of the loss. If you are able, write down the items that were damaged or lost and estimate their value. During the process of claiming, the insurance company will require an appraiser visit your home to inspect the damage.
